"I purchased this car in 1984. I had originally gone in to buy a cougar but when I saw the Mark VII at first I did not like it because it was smaller than the other Marks but I brought it. I remember that a salesman had told me at one time that I would never own one because I did not take his offer. I wandered what my friends would say for buying such a luxury car. I used this as my main car for 18 years traveling to and from work at a rate of 200 miles per day. I always had it serviced by the dealer at a very high price. It has had every repair that you can imagine. In fact between 1988 and 1991 Lincoln had a program, which you may not be aware of, if you got a repair from them the parts and labor were guaranteed for the life of the car. To this day there is still a lot of part on this car still under this guarantee. I have talked to the dealer about this last month and he said as long as I had the original receipts, which I do have, they will honor the guarantee.
I have though of getting rid of the car. It runs fine. I have had the transmission overhauled and the suspension. It has historic tags now so there is no emissions test. I am discovering a lot of ways that it can be restored so I am going to keep it. I am finding that when I go to a salvage yard that I can not find a Mark VII just like mine. This I have discovered is that I have a Lincoln Continental Mark VII LSC. The same make and model that was introduced in the car magazines in the fall of 1983. There are no emblems on this car that say Lincoln, they all say Continental. All systems on the car are working OK now, but it needs cleaning, body, paint and interior repair. I am taking it one step at a time till I get to the finished product." |
